Cisco Announces Quad Social Networking Service

Network leader Cisco announced at the recent the Enterprise 2.0 summit that it had decided to offer its Quad enterprise social software as a hosted and managed service. Cisco announced many other updates regarding its Quad service which includes the upcoming release of Quad 2.5.

Cisco plans to launch this service with the help of ACS and Capgemini. According to IDC analyst Erin Traudt the vertical integration of Quad service will help customers to smoothly adapt the collaboration software to their specific businesses. Quad provides the same features as other social networking site like getting updates, tagging, person searches and microblogging. To deliver Quad as a service, Cisco is joining forces with ACS in the US and Canada, Logicalis in Europe and Alphawest in Australia, eWeek reports.

Companies with more than 1,000 employees will benefit more from the hosted Quad service. Quad 2.5 as a hosted service that is meant to offer a better user experience and according to the company it will define and improve content relevance relative to other professional networks.

Moreover, Quad will be available for both PC and mobile devices and is already available in a few Apple devices like iPhone and iPad.
