Social networking start-up Foursquare reached a new milestone last week, and the company can now boast of having over 10 million active users, the company announced.
The location based social networking service which started in New York City with just two employees and a few dozens users, has now managed to register its presence across the Americas, Asia, Europe and in Australia with ten million users and over 70 employees.
"One of the most amazing things about building Foursquare has been seeing a tool we designed for our friends turn into something now used by over 10,000,000 people," the company mentioned in a blog post.
"And as our community grows larger, we get to build things that start to fulfill our larger vision for the future. Thanks to all of you for supporting us, and stay tuned for much, much more," it added.
Foursquare also bragged by saying that it has compiled a list of 169 countries around the globe which the site’s US users had visited. These include 1,105 beer halls in Germany, 6,230 sake bars in Japan and 358 million check-ins all across the US.
The company revealed that it also tracked 804 weddings at parks, 225 weddings at City Halls and 5,321 weddings in churches.
