ITV Android Catch-up App Launched, iOS App To Follow

With an eye on reaching out to the rapidly growing Smartphone audience, UK’s largest commercial TV broadcaster ITV has launched a new catch up TV app for the Android market.

The new app, dubbed The ITV Player app is aimed at both Android based Smartphones, as well as tablets. ITV is also offering the app totally free of cost, and it can be downloaded from the Android Market.

The app is compatible with Android 2.2 and the newer versions. With this move, users can now watch seven day catch-up for all of the ITC channels, (i.e. ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4), in their Android tablet or Smartphone devices.

Fans can look for their favourite shows using the standard search feature, search via channel, or even the program guide. Just like the iPlayer, it also provides its own recommended section.

Expressing his satisfaction at the development Robin Pembrooke, the Managing Director (opens in new tab), ITV Online and On Demand mentioned. “I’m very excited to be launching our first ever ITV Player mobile app and genuinely believe that the simple design and high picture quality of this app is a leap forward in providing our customers with what they want to watch on the move.”
