Microsoft Lends Helping Hand To HP Over Oracle Feud

What happens when two tech giants team up against a common rival? Well the clash becomes even more intense and interesting and this was seen at a recent Hewlett-Packard user group conference where HP dragged its feud with Oracle to its floor.

HP is now actively looking at the possibility of replacing Oracle with Microsoft as its preferred software partner.

According to HP today its computers and digital devices runs more Oracle databases and applications than any other manufacturer’s machines. Most IT executives who visited the user conference in Las Vegas didn’t find any traces of Oracle on the exhibition except on a program titled, “Oracle Database Migration to Microsoft SQL Server with HP Services”.

On the other hand Microsoft was the star of the exhibit as HP largely promoted its software that is meant to be included in their portfolio. HP showcased various products from Microsoft due to which its presence was widely felt during the conference. It also showed various Microsoft products that are optimized especially for Microsoft’s SQL Server database which included HP Business Data Warehouse Appliance and HP Database Consolidation Solution.

The decision to include Microsoft SQL Server is going to benefit Microsoft as HP has a large presence in the PC and peripherals market.
