Google Tops Monthly Visitors Chart With 1 Billion Unique Visits In May

In a list of new figures, Google has hit jackpot by becoming the first ever website to record one billion visitors in a month.

According to the data released by comScore (opens in new tab) a web-based market intelligence and measurement service provider, Google Inc. has continued to maintain its top position, this time by scoring more than a billion unique visits in the month of May, reports Agence France-Presse (opens in new tab) (AFP). Two Million users were used as samples for carrying out the research.

According to the figures released, Google was followed by Microsoft with 905 million visitors and Facebook in the third place with 714 million visitors in the month of May. The data suggests that the user traffic has risen by 8.4 percent in one year for Google Inc., 15.4 percent for Microsoft and 30 percent for Facebook.

Facebook has managed to displace Yahoo Inc. which has attracted nearly 689 percent visitors this month. Yahoo has shown an increase of 10.8 percent in its user traffic over an year. The data is based on monitoring the user behaviour of around two million web users across the world. Facebook managed to top other charts which represented the amount of time users spent on the site once they were on.
