Dell Slashes Price Of Streak 5 To £199!

Dell has quietly launched its own group buying service called Swarm in the UK and its first deal, which ended yesterday, saw 50 Streak 5 Android Tablets being sold for a mere £199.

That's nearly half the suggested retail price of the tablet that was launched last year, which was, at the time, the smartphone with the biggest screen on the market - until the Galaxy Tab hit the UK in September. The deal which can be found here (opens in new tab), is one of many that Dell has initiated.

The tablet, which is based on Android 2.2, comes with a 5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass, a rear five-megapixel camera and a front facing 1.3-megapixel one.

It can be used as a phone and comes with full access to Android Market and has built-in GPS. It is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon single core processor, comes with 16GB onboard storage and 512MB RAM.

The Dell Streak has since been superseded by the likes of the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S2, which may have a smaller display size but compensate for this by offering a much higher screen resolution.

Like KGBdeals and the like, Swarm is available only to UK residents and provides winners with an electronic voucher code. Dell also allows users to suggest which product they'd like to be included in Swarm deals.
