The first release candidate for CyanogenMod-7.1 Android build is now available for download, it has been revealed.
In a blog post, the Cyanogenmod Team said that the new version is an update to Android 2.3.4 and comes with many new features.
The new version of the Android mod will also come with support for several new devices including popular Samsung phones like the Galaxy S, Captivate, and Vibrant, LG Optimus 2X, HTC Incredible S and Motorola Cliq XT.
“This release candidate should be fairly stable for daily use, but always do a backup first in case something goes wrong. You can help out by giving us feedback on the forums and reporting bugs at the issue tracker,” the developers advised.
They also suggested that the best way to install the CyanogenMod-7.1 was using the ROM Manager app but users can also download the mod manually from their own network.
Considered the most popular Android distributions available, the CyanogenMod has able to amass more than 400,000 users in a short span of time.
The mod comes with many new features including Bluetooth mouse support, the ability to control the brightness of the device by sliding on the status bar and the ability to launch apps using gestures in the background.
