Hewlett Packard has announced that the company will be offering a $50 rebate to early buyers of its upcoming webOS based TouchPad tablet PC device.
The company said in a post (opens in new tab) on the official HP Palm Blog that the TouchPad offer will be valid till July 31st. The scheme is only available in US and Canada as of now.
According to the company, in order to get the $50 rebate, customers will have to present a proof-of-ownership of a Palm Pre, Pre Plus, Pixi, or Pixi Plus.
“When the first webOS phone came out, a lot of you took a chance on our new platform,” HP Palm’s Jon Zilber wrote on the blog.
“We appreciate your support -- as customers, as champions, and even occasionally as our most thoughtful critics -- and we’d like to make it just a little easier for you to experience the latest version of the power of HP webOS,” he added.
The company also said that it will be using the TouchPad LaunchLine Facebook app to conduct contests that will allow users to win a TouchPad tablet, experience zero gravity and drive with racer Mario Andretti.
The TouchPad is scheduled for launch this Friday. There will be two variants of TouchPad; 16GB model and 32GB version for $499.99 and $599.99, respectively. The processor core is 1.2GHz Snapdragon with a 9.7-inch display.
