Sony cops US anti-trust battery probe

Electronics giant Sony has revealed that it is cooperating with a probe by the US Justice Department into the global battery business.

The Japanese company's US wing Sony Electronics declined to comment further on the scope of the investigation, which could possibly involve price fixing of rechargeable Lithium batteries used in portable gadgets and electric vehicles.

According to Bloomberg, the company plans to expand its battery business to $21 billion by 2020.

Sony is most famous for making exploding batteries for Dell. US investigators want to find out whether it overcharges for them too.
