iPhone maker Apple is expected to surpass Hewett Packard has the largest seller of personal notebook in 2012.
According to Digitimes, internal sources have revealed that Apple is expected to ship 60 million tablet PC devices in 2012 out of the total estimated amount of 80 million.
After adding the 15 Million MacBooks that the company is expected to sell, Apple’s total shipment of mobile computing products reaches to 75 Million, which is 25 percent to 30 percent more than what HP is expected to sell in 2012.
Reportedly, HP is will ship 45 million to 56 million mobile PCs this year, but won’t be able to compete with Apple for maximum shipments next year.
Apple will only surpass HP if its iPad device is categorised as a PC. Many research companies are now classifying the iPad as a PC device. If we categorise the iPad as a PC then Apple has already become the largest PC seller in the United States.
HP will start competing with the iPad with the launch of its TouchPad tablet device this year. The company is not so ignorant to dismiss Apple so easily.
“It would be ignorant for us to say that we are going to take it [the market] away from Apple. We think there’s a better opportunity for us to go after the enterprise space and those consumers that use PCs,” HP’s vice president of worldwide developer relations Richard Kerris told tech website The Loop.
