Tech juggernaut Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone 7 app-market can now boast of having over 25,000 apps available for download, the Windows maker bragged.
The list, which was generated yesterday, featured 25,459 apps available for download to all Windows Phone 7 users. The company stated that over 2000 of these apps were included in the app market in the last couple of weeks alone.
While most of these applications, 51 percent to be precise are available for downloads for free, 30 percent of those were paid ones. The remaining 19 percent were also paid apps, but with free trial versions.
Also, the overall number of authorised Windows Phone 7 OS developers has surpassed the 7000 mark and currently stands at 7,170. Just like Apple’s App Store, or Google’s Android Market, the WP7 marketplace also comprise mostly of games. While games contribute to near about 17 percent of the available apps, that by books and entertainment apps stand at 13 ad 11 percent respectively.
However, Microsoft has still a long way to go, especially keeping in mind how Google’s Android Market enjoys over 300,000 apps in total, while the App Store by the iPhone maker offers its users more than 500,000 approved apps.
