IT solutions provider Dimension Data has moved to acquire OpSource, a provider of enterprise cloud hosting services.

According to the company, OpSource will form Dimension Data’s Data Cloud Solutions Business Unit which will be handled by Dimension Data CEO Bret Dawson.

OpSource is a California based cloud hosting services provider that has 150 employees and serves more than 600 customers from its centres in Virginia, United Kingdom, Ireland and India.

Dimension Data, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the NTT Group, is head quartered in Johannesburg, South Africa and offers networking, converged communications, data centre solutions and security solutions to enterprises.

The acquisition will allow it to tap the growing cloud computing market which is expected to worth over £13 billion by the end of this year.

“OpSource brings a rich set of services, a sound cloud architecture, and extensive experience in cloud services that will meet immediate client needs - in addition to a cloud infrastructure which supports development and growth in this space.
