Video games continue to be there at the top spot in the list for the most popular Smartphone apps, according to a new research.
The research was conducted by The Nielsen Co., a New York based leading research firm known for its expertise in the global marketing and advertising research. The end-result of the study published by the firm also claims that iPhone users play more games than others.
According to Nielsen, approximately two-third of all Smartphone users - 64 percent to be precise, listed video games as the most sought after application they had used during the previous one month. The figure is even higher than what it was last year in August, at near about 61 percent.
Games were followed by weather, social networking, navigation/search, music and news applications in the list, with 61%, 60%, 56%, 44% and 39% respectively.
The study also revealed that amongst hardcore mobile gamers, the iPhone owners play almost 14.7 hours every month, whereas Android users play near about 9.3 hours monthly.
“Among Smartphone consumers who have played mobile games in the past 30 days, those with iPhones, Windows 7 phones or Android phones are the most likely to have downloaded the games they played,” Nielsen claimed in its report.
