Motorola Throws In Free Mouse & Keyboard With XOOM Tablet

Motorola has announced that customers living in the UK and Ireland who have purchased the XOOM tablet in July will get a free wireless keyboard and mouse worth £74.99.

Customers just need to send a proof of purchase to Motorola to get the accessories delivered. The deal, the company says, will last until stocks last.

The keyboard is compatible with most Motorola devices powered by Android and works using Bluetooth. We haven't been able to find out more about the mouse.

According to Amazon's best selling tablet listing, the XOOM still lags behind the rest of the competition (Asus Eee Pad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Blackberry Playbook and iPad 2).

The XOOM tablet was presented at the beginning of the year at CES and comes with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core clocked at 1GHz, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, Wi-Fi, a 10.1-inch display with a 1280x800 pixel resolution plus a pair of cameras.

Sales of the Motorola tablet have been relatively disappointing, and this latest offer to UK customers comes on the back of a hefty price cut in the US (opens in new tab) in an attempt to lure customers. In spite of this, there have been rumours about the introduction of a Xoom 2 tablet before the end of the year.
