iPad Preferred by Smartphone Users over Android Tablets

Owners of Android powered smartphones leaning towards Apple’s iPad when it comes to tablet devices.

According to Fox Business (opens in new tab), the stats released by Canaccord Genuity analysts T. Michael Walkley, Charles John and Matthew D. Ramsay indicate that Android smartphone owners are purchasing Apple’s iOS based iPad instead of going for Android powered tablet devices like the Galaxy Tab.

The report revealed that competitors like Amazon, Asus and Samsung might be able to wrest some control over the tablet marker from Apple’s hands, but that might prove difficult if Android users start purchasing the iPad as well.

“Our smartphone and handset checks indicate iPads are selling better to Android smartphone users than the current Android tablets,” the research firm said in its report.

“With our checks indicating Android smartphone consumers are choosing the iPad versus Android tablets, we believe this is a powerful trend for Apple’s growing iOS base. Therefore, we anticipate Apple should maintain dominant share of the tablet market in C2011 and C2012”, it added.

The marker for tablet devices as slowed down overall, due to the failure of early Android based tablets but Apple’s iPad, now its second generation, continues to chug ahead.
