Android Marketplace Gets New Look, Movie Rental Service and eBook Store Added

Search engine giant Google has dished out a revamped version of its Android Marketplace application store for smartphone devices.

The company said in a blog post that the new Android Marketplace comes with a movie rental service and an eBook store.

The new platform, which is available for Android devices running version 2.2 or higher, comes with a movie rental service, for US users only, will allow users to rent and watches thousands of movies right from the Android Marketplace.

Google is also offering a Videos app for Android that leaves behind petty things like waiting for downloads, syncing or storage space.

The company has also included a book store that lets users browse and purchase eBooks that can be read from anywhere, desktop, smartphone or tablet.

“We’ve created more space to feature some of the most interesting content of the week on the home page. We’ve added more top charts, with newer, more relevant items, and we’ve made it easy to swipe through these charts as you browse the store. We’ve also introduced new collections of great content, like staff picks and Editors’ Choice apps,” Google said.
