Apple has announced that it will soon allow businesses to purchase apps in bulk, making it easier for them to buy a single app for ten or ten thousand employees.
The Volume Purchase Program for Business will not only let businesses purchase apps in bulk but will also let them purchase custom B2B (Business to Business) apps created by third party developers.
“Custom B2B apps are built just for you by third-party developers and business partners to address a specific business process, integrate with a unique back-office environment, or deliver a custom interface for your users,” Apple said in a post on its business page
The company said that business which enroll in the Volume Purchase Program will be able to control which employees access the apps.
Businesses who purchase apps in bulk, will be given a redemption code for each app. They can control who can download and use the app by distributing the code accordingly. Apple says that apps under the Volume Purchase Program will be available at the same price as the ones in the App Store.
US businesses will simply be able to select the app they want, choose the quantity and purchase it using their corporate credit card. The company however, failed to announce exactly when the program will be rolled out and where it will be available, simply stating that it's 'coming soon to businesses in the US'.
