Microsoft Integrates Windows Phone 7 with Home Server 2011

Software giant Microsoft has rolled out the Windows Server Solutions Phone Connector for Windows Home Server 2011, which will integrate Windows Phone 7 with WHS 2011.

According to the Windows maker, the add-in will allow users to connect to and manage their home, business or storage server with Windows Phone 7 based devices.

The tools have been designed to integrate Windows Phone 7 with Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

The company said that users will be able to use their Windows Phone 7 devices to carry out remote server management tasks like view alerts, start and stop back-ups and manage users. Users can also use the device to view or access media files that are stored on their server.

“The Phone connecter requires both a server sided add-in which you can download from Microsoft Download Centre (opens in new tab), and a Windows Phone 7 Application which can be downloaded through the Zune Market place on your phone or via your PC,” Microsoft said in a blog post (opens in new tab).

Users will be able to view the images stored in the server and will be able to upload the images taken from a Windows Phone 7 device.
