Retail giant Sears Holding Corps. has officially issued an apology for a reseller’s mistake which eventually ended up breaking the hearts of hundreds of consumers who thought they could get their hands on the latest Apple iPad 2 for just a paltry amount of $69.
It all started on Friday when GSM On Sale, posted a 16 GB iPad2 for $69 on Sears.com. Needless to say, a huge number of consumers fell for what they believed to be lucrative deal, with many even buying the product in bulk - only to have their hearts broken as weekend passed by.
After the weekend-long anticipation and joy, the purchasers had to finally come back to reality as they were greeted by an apology message on the home page of the site. Having shattering the hearts of hundreds, Sears.com officially announced that price of the 16GB iPad 2 in question, in fact, remains at $499.
“Unfortunately ... one of the Marketplace third party sellers told us that they mistakenly posted incorrect pricing on two Apple iPad models on the Marketplace portion of the website,” read the apology message from the site, TechCrunch reports.
“If you purchased either of these products recently, your order has been cancelled and your account will be credited. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the message added.
