A new report claims that enterprise users are now increasingly giving preference to the Apple iPhone and iPad over devices powered by Google’s Android, RIM and others.
The report, published by Good Technology, was based on extensive market research carried out in the smartphone and tablet industry during the second quarter of the running year.
The end results of the research, published in Good Technology's Q2 2011 Data Report, claims that iOS powered smartphone and tablet devices now enjoy a stake of almost 80 per cent in the enterprise sector, 10 per cent higher than in the previous quarter.
"In the second quarter of 2011 we saw a couple of striking things," Good Technology corporate strategy veep John Herrema said, PCR online reports.
"Firstly, that roughly half of the iPads we activated in this quarter were for the financial sector, clearly employees and IT Directors in this sector have taken to the iPad," he stated.
He also mentioned that the iPad continues to dominate the tablet market accounting for no less than 97 per cent of all activations in the enterprise sector during Q2.
The report will certainly come as a big blow not only for Google, but also the other key players in the smartphone and tablet industry including Microsoft and Research In Motion.
