HTC Drops Price Of Desire S To £315

The Desire S is a solid mid-range smartphone from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC and Carphone Warehouse subsidiary, e2save, is offering the handset available on a 12 month contract from as little as £25 per month with an upfront cost of only £14.99.

With a total cost of ownership of £315 (opens in new tab), the Desire S is a great buy especially as the package includes 300 minutes, 1000 texts and 1GB data, enough for light users looking for an up-to-date handset which happens the sequel to the popular HTC Desire.

The handset comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 3.7-inch WVGA super LCD capacitive display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1GHz, a five-megapixel camera with HD Video, GPS, Wi-Fi, a VGA front facing camera, a microSD card slot and is made using one piece of aluminium.

Like its bigger brother, the HTC Sensation, it has 768MB and 1.1GB onboard memory (but still needs a microSD card to bring it up to the competition).

The contract is available from Talkmobile, which is part of telecommunications behemoth Talktalk. This mobile virtual network operator uses Vodafone's network for its customers which should ensure more than decent reception; the cheapest HTC Desire S handset costs around £315.
