Micro blogging website Twitter on Thursday launched its prominent advertisement service “Promoted Tweets” in a hope to generate greater revenue.
Twitter has announced that promoted tweets from sponsors will appear on the top of a user’s profile page to their timeline. Interestingly, the sponsored tweets won’t go down but stay there in timeline till users log in.
"From the start, our philosophy around advertising has been simple: We put our users first and strive to create products that enrich the Twitter experience for every Twitter user. We're excited about this next step and look forward to your feedback." the social media company stated in an official bog post. The latest attempt is to disable adverts going down the timeline without coming to the notice of users.
The announcement has received varied reaction from the users of Twitter. Many users have expressed their dissatisfaction over Promoted Tweets as few called it the end of the social networking website, while several users did not mind the in-streaming of adverts.
Twitter said the aim is to become one of the first platform to know about any great deal or offer announced by a brand they follow in order to give its users an exclusive access before anyone else.
