Randi Zuckerberg, Facebook Director of Marketing and the sister of CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has quit the social networking giant to start her own social media firm.
Zuckerberg, who is leaving the company after working there for six years, has resigned from her post to start a company that helps businesses become more social.
“We have made incredible progress, but there is still much to be done and other ways I can affect change. Now is the perfect time for me to move outside of Facebook to build a company focused on the exciting trends underway in the media industry,” Randi said in her resignation letter, which has been posted in its entirety on All Things Digital.
She is starting a company called RtoZ Media, a social media company, which will help businesses to adopt social concepts in order to expand.
Facebook acknowledged her resignation in an official statement, informing that it was grateful for her ‘important service’. Zuckerberg has been with the company since its early days and has played a vital role in helping the company move forward.
However, her brother, Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is yet to give an official statement about her departure.
Randi Zuckerberg was in the news just recently having spoken out against the level of anonymity on the web.
