Vodafone has put the newly announced RIM Blackberry Torch 9860 smartphone on its coming soon list without giving any hint about its exact release date.
The Blackberry Torch 9860, like the four other RIM handsets presented last week, is powered by RIM's recently revealed Blackberry OS 7.
The Smartphone does also have some pretty impressive hardware specs and looks a lot like the Incredible S (or the Dell Streak). Like its HTC rival, it comes with a Qualcomm SoC, a Snapdragon MSM8655 model clocked at 1.2GHz. There's also 768MB RAM and 4GB of onboard storage (expandable to 36GB via microSD).
It is however the screen that will cause heads to turn; the 3.7-inch WVGA is the largest touchscreen available on the Blackberry range at the moment, and with a 253 ppi pixel density it should provide enough finesse to match the competition.
Business users who are snap-happy will also be pleased by the five-megapixel camera with HD video recording, AF, flash and a zero shutter lag; unfortunately though, there's no front facing camera.
Other additional features of the BB Torch 9860 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Blackberry Maps, a 1230mAh battery, up to 50 hours of music playback, and all within a 11.5mm thick chassis.
