Leading cloud gaming platform OnLive has confirmed that it is going to introduce a brand new instant-play gaming service in the UK on 22nd September.
The new technology, which was unveiled in the US last summer, will enable users to play some of the most famous titles only using a broadband connection, and without requiring any type of installation.
Apparently, OnLive will store the codes for the games on its servers, and the gameplay will be streamed to the user’s computer, Tablet or TV in real time via the Web, just like a YouTube video.
The company also claims that more than 100 ‘top tier’ games will be made available for the UK customers right from the launch date itself. However, it refrained from disclosing the names of the games to be made available.
OnLive reportedly told The Guardian though, that it is looking forward to license most of the titles currently available for its US customers.
"OnLive will utterly transform gaming in the UK," OnLive founder and CEO Steve Perlman said, according to The Guardian.
"No discs, big downloads or specialised hardware needed. OnLive gives you the latest games instantly, anytime, anywhere on HDTV, PC, Mac, as well as iPad, Android tablets,” he added.
