Research in Motion has dished out a free online management service that enables small businesses to simplify smartphone security with little or no technical expertise.
The product is a cloud based service called the BlackBerry Management Centre and is designed specifically for businesses with up to 100 smartphones. With the help of the latest service, small businesses can back up all the BlackBerrys automatically, provided a Wi-Fi connection is present, thus enabling them to recover the data in case the handset is either lost or stolen.
One of the key features is the ability to remotely lock the BlackBerry handset in case it is stolen and thus protecting the sensitive data that might reside thereon.
Alan Panezic, Vice President, Enterprise Product Management at RIM said, “We are pleased to introduce RIM’s latest cloud service designed specifically for small businesses.”
“BlackBerry Management Centre is a free service and an effective way to manage and support employees’ BlackBerry smartphones in the cloud”, he added.
