Search engine giant Google has dished out a shopping app for tablet devices, bringing catalogs from multiple brands to a single platform.
The Google Catalog app, available only for Apple’s iPad for now, comes with interactive media-rich product catalogs from brands in popular categories like fashion and apparel, beauty, jewellery, home, kids and gifts.
The app, which will soon be launched for Android based tablets, offers catalogs belonging to brands like Anthropologie, Bare Escentuals, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's, Crate and Barrel, L.L. Bean, Lands’ End, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus among others.
Users will be able to interact with a catalog by zooming in on products, tap on tags to learn more about a particular item and even view photo albums and videos. If users discover an item of their choice, they can either see the store near their location or visit the brand online.
Google will also allow users to create a collage comprising of their favourite products and even share it with their friends.
“For years, shoppers have enjoyed flipping through glossy print catalogs to be inspired, discover new trends and find great products. Today, mobile technologies can make catalog shopping more engaging, social and creative,” Google said in its official blog post.
Further information can be obtained from Google’s official catalog page.
