Amazon.com has registered the domain names KindleScribe.com and KindleScribes.com which point to a new product that could potentially come with a pen, not unlike the HTC Scribe.
The domain names were only registered recently and do not point to any significant landing pages and come after another domain name, Kindleair.com was registered by the retailing giant.
Could the next generation Kindle come with a stylus to allow users to annotate text or even allow them to jot down notes, something that would be extremely useful for students and researchers alike?
Or it could be that both would point to the next generation Amazon tablets which are scheduled to be launched later this year and which are rumoured to be equipped with Nvidia's quad core Tegra 3 SoC.
The announcement by HP that it is going to exit the PC and tablet market now means that there is one less potential rival to worry about and Amazon could well have the upper hand because of its portfolio.
Amazon has the capacity to rival Apple on all major fronts; it has a music store, an application marketplace, streaming video, a massive retail store, ebooks, audio books and a very popular brand.
