Cisco Mulls AXIOSS Assets Acquisition

US based enterprise networking equipment maker Cisco has decided to acquire certain software assets belonging to a UK subsidiary of Comptel Corporation.

The company will be acquiring the AXIOSS service fulfilment software suite along with the related employees for around $31 million in cash.

According to Cisco, the acquisition will help it to extend network and service management for its next generation IP networks and allow service providers to quickly offer new video, data and cloud services to their clients.

Cisco said that the AXIOSS software suit is capable of enhancing the Cisco service provider management offerings by bringing automatic ordering and fulfilment. The software suite will also be integrated with Cisco Prime, which allows service providers to manage their networks.

"As more users, connected mobile Internet devices and bandwidth intensive applications drive the explosive growth in IP-based networks, service providers continue to invest in their infrastructure to support customers' needs," said Jesper Andersen, senior vice president and general manager, Network Management Technology Group (NMTG), Cisco.

"With the acquisition of AXIOSS software and talent, we will help enable service providers to generate greater profits using a single management architecture to drive quick monetization and optimization of their Cisco network investments." he added.
