The Evo 3D from HTC has gone on preorder at UK retailer Carphone Warehouse just a few weeks before the expected September release date of the Apple iPhone 5; the handset is the second 3D handset on the market after the LG Optimus 3D which was launched in February 2011.
The Evo 3D will be available for purchase instore from the 6th of September and will overtake the Sensation as the top of the range handset from the Taiwanese manufacturer with a monthly contract price of £36 on Vodafone with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB data.
The smartphone will also be available from all the major mobile network operators in the country with the exception of Three Mobile. The Evo 3D will also be available SIM Free for a whopping £599.95.
The Evo 3D comes with a 4.3-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core SoC clocked at 1.2GHz. It also comes with more onboard system memory compared to the Sensation (1GB vs 768MB), has two five megapixel cameras rather than a single eight-megapixel one and like its smaller brother comes with a front facing webcam (1.3-megapixel vs VGA on the Sensation).
The Sensation wins when it comes to being able to record video content in full HD although the Evo 3D pips it when it comes to recording video content in 3D and displaying it. The 3D handset from HTC also comes with a bigger battery and both have Android Gingerbread with the latest HTC Sense.
