LG has announced that it plans to release its Android based Optimus Sol device in Europe in September.
The company plans to bring its popular Optimus series to the mid-ranged market with Sol, which will be released in Europe in mid-September, followed by releases in Central and South America.
The device, which is also known as the LG-E730, comes with a 1 GHz processor and a 3.8 Ultra AMOLED display which offers better clarity outdoors.
Optimus Sol, which is merely 9.8 mm thick, comes with a new power management feature called ‘Dark UI’, which is capable of increasing its battery life by up to 30 percent. The feature works by utilising less white light when the device is in an idle state.
The device also features a decent 5MP camera, support for Wi-Fi and DLNA connectivity.
"The Optimus Sol stands out from its competitors as the most affordable 1 GHz Android smartphone with an AMOLED display," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
"By introducing a no-nonsense phone that boasts one of the best displays on the market, we think we have a real winner for consumers looking for a subtle but visually stunning phone." he added.
