Cloud based retail inventory software maker Erply has launched a new mobile credit card reader targeted at businesses both large and small.
The mobile credit card reader supports Apple’s iPad tablet device as of now but will soon support the iPhone as well. As of now, the company has no plans to offer the reader for Android and Windows Phone 7 devices.
The Erply credit card reader works by transmitting a customer’s encrypted credit card data to its point-of-sale software and the inventory management software suite to process the payment.
The device supports both traditional credit card payments and Near Fields Communication technology. The company pointed out that it charges 1.9 percent of the processed payment as the transaction fee, which is far less what is charged by rivals like Square and Verifone.
"With our mobile credit card reader, we are providing retailers with the full range of technology options they will need to accept and process payments and make real-time decisions that affect their business," said Kris Hiiemaa, CEO, Erply.
"As technology changes, we are giving consumers the ability to pay for items the way they want to, whether it is with cash, credit cards or with NFC technologies in phones." he added.
