Louise Mensch, a high-profile conservative MP in the UK Parliament has asked for police protection following threats from unidentified hackers targeting her children.
Ms Mensch revealed in her Twitter account that she was receiving threatening emails from “morons”, and pointed her finger specifically at Anonymous and LulzSec.
"Had some morons from Anonymous/Lulzsec threaten my children by email,” read the MP’s tweet, the Independent reports.
"To those who sent it; get stuffed losers. I have contacted the police via the House of Commons and the email is with them now. I don't bully easily, kids. Or in fact at all,” she added.
She also claimed to have raised the issue via Twitter specifically, in protest against the threatening emails which allegedly asked her to “get off Twitter."
Ms Mensch, aged 40, is an MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire. She also happens to be a member of the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee.
It seems as though her recent calls to temporarily shut down social media sites during deteriorating law and order situations did not go too well with the alleged “Anonymous or LulzSec” hacktivists.
Scotland Yard confirmed they had received a formal complaint and would be investigating the situation.
