Google has given up on Slide, a social app maker the online advert monster acquired for some $200 million just last year.
Slide was founded by PayPal co-founder Max Levchin and has been operating as an autonomous separate division within Google.
But after Levchin decided to leave the company, Google decided to pull out too.
“Max has decided to leave Slide and Google to pursue other opportunities, and we wish him the best. Most of the team from Slide will remain at Google to work on other opportunities,” a Google spokesperson told AllThings D.
According to that report, the-by-now-fairly-wealthy Levchin is to off to a company called Square, along with Slide's product chief Jared Flieser, where they will join yet another former colleague, COO Keith Rabois.
