AMNews: HTC Omega Photos Leaked, Samsung Apple US Court Case Begins July 2012, Free TouchPad Apps from HP

First photos of the HTC Omega smartphone, running on the Windows Phone Mango platform, have been leaked. The Omega, from HTC, is the first device to run on the new Windows Phone Mango, which comes with new features like multi-tasking and better app performance.

Google is dissolving Slide, the social app maker which it had acquired for some $200 million last year, the Internet search giant announced. Slide was founded by the co-founder of PayPal Max Levchin. Google, ever since its acquisition, was maintaining the operation of the social company independently, as a separate division.

Tech heavyweights Samsung and Apple Inc. will be battling out patent related disputes in a US court on 30 July, 2012 in an extended 13 day trial, a US judge confirmed. Initially, Apple appealed to the court to start the trial on February 1, 2012. Samsung did not agree with this court date and was pushing for a later date.

Mountain View based Internet search giant Google Inc. is expected to officially announce the launch of its moderately popular Google TV platform in the UK later today. Having conquered almost 90 percent of the Internet search market, Google tried its luck on the television industry last year with the launch of the Google TV in October.

Computer maker Hewlett-Packard has announced that it will be offering free apps to TouchPad tablet device owners. The company announced that it will be offering six free apps for the table device for a limited time.
