Mobile phone network Vodafone is now retailing the full touch screen BlackBerry 9860 mobile phone, on contracts from £30 a month.
The Research In Motion Torch 9860 was launched at the start of August, as a part of the largest BlackBerry event in history with five new handsets announced all at once.
BlackBerry 9860 was unveiled along with its 9850 USA counterpart, with the updated slider Touch 9810 model from last year and the BlackBerry Bold 9900 - with the American 9930 variant.
The Torch 9860 is the first full touch screen mobile phone from RIM since the BlackBerry Storm handsets, where the last and second version arrived in late 2009.
Those older mobiles had a display that moved inwards when selecting a link and in the same way as a mouse button is depressed when clicking on a webpage. The new BlackBerry Torch 9860 operates in a much more traditional touch screen way, where RIM appears to have abandoned their Storm devices for the time being.
The BlackBerry Torch arrives with a 3.7-inch 253 DPI capacitive touch screen, whilst running from a fast 1.2GHz processor, with a 5 megapixel camera capable of HD 72op video recording with 4GB of internal storage and the new BlackBerry 7 OS.
Vodafone is carrying the Research In Motion Torch 9860 free of charge, with 750 minutes, a 250 text message bundle and 500MB data allowance for 30 a month – which includes 3,000 more minutes to landlines.
