PC and laptop maker IBM is developing new technology that allows smartphone users to access its enterprise social media platform, IBM Connections.
The company has already developed a dedicated app for the Apple iOS, BlackBerry as well as Google’s Android smartphone operating systems to offer free downloads. These apps have been developed to operate in unison with IBM Connections, one of the leading enterprise social collaboration platforms.
According to analysts, the company’s decision to offer free versions of the social networking mobile app could increase popularity of IBM Connections significantly.Being able to instantly access the social media platform is convenient for many people on the go.
Moreover, these apps offer most all the popular features from IBM Connections including photo sharing, status posting and viewing, profiles, blogs, file sharing as well as activities.
"We are not just going to focus on one device or platform. We are finding that enterprises have to give the users choice. The capability of the platforms are such now that you can do some amazing things on these devices," Rob Ingram, IBM mobile strategy manager said in an exclusive statement to V3.
