HP Pre 3 Goes On Preorder For £19.86 Per Month

The elusive and already obsolete HP Pre 3 smartphone has gone on preorder on T-Mobile for as little as £19.86 monthly after an automatic cashback offer; granted that it is nowhere near as exciting as a £49 (or £69) SIM Free handset but the likelihood of this happening is extremely remote.

The product page, from (opens in new tab), stipulates that the handset will be shipped on the 6th of September with the offer including 100 minutes, 100 texts, 500MB data and unlimited web and email on an 18 month contract, with a TCO of less than £360 (alternatively you can get the Samsung Galaxy S for the same price).

The Pre 3 includes 8GB onboard storage (no card slot though), a five megapixel rear camera, a VGA front facing one, a 3.58-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 480x800 pixel resolution, a physical QWERTY keyboard with rounded keys, a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1.4GHz, 512MB RAM and the now-unsupported WebOS platform.

Unbelievably, the HP Pre 3 smartphone is currently available on Ebay for a whopping £400 which beggars belief. It would be interesting to find out whether aficionados will attempt to keep WebOS alive like BeOS and OS/2.
