Qualcomm has made moves to acquire networking equipment maker Bigfoot to enhance its offerings to customers.
The company, which failed to disclose the financial details of the acquisition, has said that Bigfoot’s technology will help it deliver solutions to allow its users to easily manage rich media streams online.
“Bigfoot’s technology and expertise will help to deliver an enhanced end-user networking experience. With Bigfoot’s technologies, Qualcomm Atheros will be able to deliver its customers with intelligent solutions for managing multiple, rich-media streams for a superior online experience across online games, streaming HD video and audio and real-time communications,” Qualcomm said in a statement.
Bigfoot, known for its networking equipment targeted at gaming laptops, recently debuted its Killer Wireless-N 1102 product. The company used Qualcomm’s hardware on top of its custom firmware and software.
Qualcomm did not disclose any plans for the future of Bigfoot Networks. The company did say that it will continue to provide support for Bigfoot’s existing customers. As a part of the acquisition, Bigfoot will be required to change the location of its office.
