Google Celebrates 13th Birthday

Internet search giant Google has stepped into its teen-years as the firm celebrated its 13 years of existence on Sunday.

The day was September 4, 1998. Two young men named Sergey Brin and Larry Page introduced to the world something which would soon become a household name in all around the globe- something that would make lives far easier than ever before. Yes, that was the day when Google came into being!

The prelude to that ground breaking moment in the Internet history started some three years back in the year 1995. The same year when both the founders met at Standford, and they got along pretty well.

They eventually decided to kick start a search service which they used to call BackRub. That was January, 1996. But it did not take them too long before they changed the name (as well as the logo) of the service from BackRub to Google.

And subsequently the services offered by the duo through the search engine also changed dramatically and started including a larger amount of web resources consistently.

Then fast forward a decade, and there you have the undisputed king in the search engine market with over 90 percent stake in the same.
