Console Modder Fits PS3 and Xbox 360 in One Chassis

A Reddit reader has managed to stuff the PS3 and the Xbox 360 console in a PC chassis, effectively solving the problem of managing multiple consoles.

Console modder ‘Timofiend’ has fitted a 80 GB PlayStation 3 fat console in the same chassis which contains a new slim Xbox 360, bringing console modding to an entirely new level.

The developer is now in the process of making documents that would allow others to merge their consoles in a single case as well. Timofiend reported that he faced no major problems while putting the two consoles together.

As of the cooling part, the developer did not go for liquid cooling as it was too expensive. The big size of the consoles makes sure than their no room for additional cooling mechanism but two traditional cooling fans which come of the chassis are doing the job.

According to some photos (opens in new tab) of the chassis released by the developer, then front panel of the chassis opens to reveal the two CD drives of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The developer took around a month to complete the project.

“Spent the last month or so working on this, has a new Xbox 360 slim inside, and an 80gig PS3 (normal one not the slim, as I couldn’t afford to buy two new consoles for this project I just used mine),” said Timofiend (opens in new tab).

“I kept a work log and took photos as I made this so if anybodys interested I shall upload the project as a whole for you to see how it was done,” he added.
