GetJar - the massively popular global open application store is coming up with a new, luscious offering which you can use to get your hands on premium Android apps for absolutely free.
Unlike other online stores such as Amazon, GetJar’s new offering is not a limited, promotional campaign, but a permanent one- meaning if a premium app enters the “Free zone”, it stays there for good.
The independent store will kick start the offering with a start-up catalogue containing 34 free premium app. All those 34 apps normally cost somewhere between $1 and $5 on other app stores.
Some of the initial GetJar Gold launches include the likes of TuneIn Radio Pro, Age of Zombies, Solo, Splashtop Remote Desktop and Paper Glider etc. The company announced that it was compensating the developers in exchange of making available their apps for free.
“We are able to develop programs like GetJar Gold because of our open and free business model. We regret that at this time we cannot extend our program to iPhone users,” the company said in its press-release.
“Apple runs a closed ecosystem that does not allow for competing app distributors like GetJar. Unfortunately, iPhone users will have to continue paying for the very same apps that their Android counterparts enjoy for free,” it added.
