O2 kicks in to touch Alcatel Rugby phone

Former British Telecom mobile phone network O2 has announced the limited edition England Rugby 602 handset, with a cost that’s just a penny shy of £40 and on pay as you go tariffs.

Alcatel’s budget One Touch 602 mobile phone has been converted by O2 to support England’s bid for the Rugby World Cup, which starts today.

This handset itself has the red rose emblem backing the device, propping up O2’s sponsorship of the England squad that starts their campaign against Argentina on Saturday morning.

Alcatel’s OT-602 arrives with a 2.4-inch 240x320 resistive touch screen, a 2 megapixel camera, which has access to social networking sites, a multi email and instant messaging client – whilst running from a Java-based operating system, with an Opera Mini web browser.

O2’s England Rugby OT-602 has been rolling mauled into O2 stores nationwide and online at, from £39.99 on prepay plans.
