Quick! Dell Drops Price of Venue Pro Windows Phone Smartphone To £180

Dell has cut the price of its Windows Phone smartphone, the Venue Pro, by half to £179.50 as part of its regular cluster buying deal scheme, DellSwarm.com; this compares very well with other retailers like Expansys who sell the handset for around £250.

At the time of writing, nearly half of the 60 units on offer had been sold in less than an hour which means that the deal is likely to be over by mid-day today.

The Dell Venue Pro (opens in new tab) was launched earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas and comes with a 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen with a sliding, full QWERTY keyboard.

As for all first generation Windows Phone handsets, this one comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon single core SoC clocked at 1GHz, 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, Xbox LIVE compatibility, full Microsoft Office Mobile & Bing Maps included, a five megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1400mAh battery.

A review carried out by our sister website (opens in new tab), ITReviews, says "Windows Phone 7 changes a little from handset to handset, remaining predictable and unskinnable. We aren't sure it's the best fit for consumers. The Dell Venue Pro itself is chunky, but the large screen and mini-keyboard are definite plus points."
