iPad 2 Successor To Have Lighter, Slimmer Batteries

The third generation Apple iPad that is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2012 could bring some significant changes. It has recently been reported that the iPad 3's battery will be lighter, thinner and safer than the one used for the iPad 2, according to Apple Insider (opens in new tab).

The CTIA IEE 1625 US standard certified batteries will be produced by Simplo and Dynapack and offer superior performance and durability, although the the two companies will charge Apple a higher premium for the advanced technology they use.

The price should nevertheless be worth it, and the iPad 3 will also incorporate a high-resolution screen similar to the much-vaunted iPhone 4 Retina Display.

The aluminosilicate glass that LG Display, Samsung Electronics and Sharp will produce for Apple's iPad 3 is said to guarantee a far more resistant screen and a sharper image.

As for the processor of the third generation of iPad, Apple has designated Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co to produce the astonishing A6 mobile processor using 28-nanometer process and 3D stacking technology.The interposer will be made out of silicone which will facilitate the retrieval of data, together with the use of "bump on trace" technology.
