Microsoft Seeks Larger ERP Market Share with Dynamics AX 2012

With an eye on strengthening its stake in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market, software giant Microsoft Corp. launched the brand new version of is Dynamics AX today.

ERP products are basically aimed at assisting businesses to improve their efficiency with sophisticated technologies for procurement, financials, invoicing etc.

Microsoft’s 2012 version of Dynamics AX brings along with it solutions for human resources, financial as well as operations management aspects of an organisation. According to the company, the product is primarily targeted at the larger mid market businesses. The company also brags that the new offering will equip organisations with a flexible set up which they can exploit to make rapid changes in their processes whenever situation demands.

Though AX 2012 is very much a conventional on premise application, it also features a range of Microsoft Azure cloud services to allow users to take advantage of the company’s cloud offerings. These integrated Azure services include the likes of online commerce services; RapidStart, credit and debit card payment services and more.

AX was launched way back in 1998 as Axapta, a product originally co-developed by IBM and Damgaard before it was acquired by Navision in 2000 and Microsoft in 2002
