Tech heavyweight Qualcomm Incorporated announced on Monday the expanded availability of the company’s Femtocell Station Modem; FSM9816, FSM9832 and FSM9216 enterprise chipsets, as well as Qualcomm's fully integrated system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for Femtocell development.
The company also announced that the new fully integrated SoC will be coming with an extended user capacity in order to allow up to 32 active users.
Qualcomm said that these new chipsets will be complementing the existing FSM 3G femtocell chipsets which bring along with them 8 user versions, aimed primarily at the residential market with adequate software and hardware capability.
Also, a new Femto-Wi-Fi hardware reference design was unveiled with these new sets of offerings. The design is basically aimed at integrating these FSM enterprise solutions with the existing Qualcomm Atheros 802.11n Wi-Fi AR9350 and AR9344 access point solutions.
"Our higher capacity femtocell solutions and new integrated Femto-Wi-Fi reference design will enable operators to deploy a single high-capacity access point to provide both Wi-Fi and cellular connections, leveraging common backhaul and site locations, with our FSM chipsets enabling more users to take advantage of these access points simultaneously," said Steven Brightfield, director of product management at Qualcomm.
