Western Digital unveiled today its new WD 2go and WD 2go Pro mobile apps, aimed at the My Book Live personal cloud storage platform.
My Book Live, which happens to be a proprietary cloud storage solution from the company, allows users to connect their home networks to Western Digital’s servers and share with it their storage so they can access all their important data whenever and wherever they want.
The company offers its services through the website www.WD2go.com. The website allows users to make a secure remote connection to their personal storage. And for smartphone or tablet users, Western Digital has a mobile app alternative. The app allows users connect to their data using an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android powered mobile devices.
“Consumers demand the anywhere, any device access they can get from 'the cloud,' but don't want to pay monthly fees or lose control of their personal data," said Executive Vice President and general manager for WD's branded products and consumer electronic groups, Jim Welsh in a statement (opens in new tab).
