Apple is planning to introduce a hardware upgrade for its MacBook Pro laptop devices before the holiday season commences.
Sources that are known to have an insight into Apple’s future product plans told Apple Insider that the update Apple is planning for the MacBook Pro will involve increasing the speed of the CPU.
Apart from that, no material changes in the laptops are expected. Apple is enhancing the CPU to bridge the gap between now and Intel’s launch of next generation processors for mobile platforms.
The exact timing of the update is not clear but the sources believe that Apple might launch the refreshed MacBook Pros by the end of this month, sometime around the Back to School shopping season.
The news of Apple’s bumping the CPU speeds in MacBook Pros comes as Intel upgraded its Sandy Bridge line by adding 4 new Core i7 processors, which come compatible with Apple’s MacBook Pro devices. If the news is true then Apple will boost the CPU speeds in the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models to 2.4GHz, 2.5GHz, and 2.7GHz.
