UK mobile retailer Handtec has published the picture of what looks to be yet another high end Android-based smartphone from HTC, the Bass otherwise known as the Runnymede.
Handtec doesn't disclose (opens in new tab) the price or the delivery date but only says that it will be available in white and in unlocked mode.
The handset will feature the latest version of Android Gingerbread, v2.3.4, a massive 4.7-inch WVGA capacitive screen - which is a disappointment, a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, 16GB onboard storage, an eight megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front one, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The phone will come with Beats technology like the Sensation XE released yesterday. Speaking of the latter, it will be interesting to find out where the Bass will fit given that the newest version of the Sensation is almost identical except for the screen size.
Expansys has already put the Sensation XE on preorder for £500 which means that the Bass should carry a small price premium.
The rise of yet another large screen smartphone means that the HTC Desire HD will amost certainly be relegated to the "obsolete devices" page soon.
